Archie’s Progress in 2026: An Update from Chloe
2026 started off as a big year for Archie and his family. They have recently welcomed two new family members. Archie’s youngest siblings Isla Grace and Noah James were born in February 2026. Archie and Harper are besotted by their twin siblings, and Archie is a great support. He loves feeding them bottles, having cuddles on the couch and particularly in his bed when we read him a story each night. Archie loves teaching them all about sport and watches every sport game he can with them.
Archie is now in Grade 2 at his local Catholic primary school and continues to amaze us with his resilience, determination and love for life. With ongoing support through MACS, Archie receives aide assistance at school under physical disability funding and continues to work hard both academically and socially. Archie also continues to receive support through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and his medical teams at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), helping to coordinate the medical care and equipment he requires. Outside of school, Archie has embraced a busy and active lifestyle, playing both football and basketball, attending weekly occupational therapy, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, and participating in basketball coaching sessions with an NBL1 player to continue building his skills and confidence. Archie also receives regular massage therapy at home and is supported daily by an incredible team of support workers who assist with activities, homework, appointments and helping him enjoy all the things he loves most. Archie receives regular support from his podiatry team who provide him adaptive footwear. Despite ongoing pain, fatigue and increasing physical challenges, Archie continues to approach life with courage, humour and determination.
One of Archie’s absolute highlights this past year was his family trip to America — an experience he still talks about constantly! It created lifelong memories for him. Archie also loved spending time in Anglesea over Easter and continues to thoroughly enjoy school holidays and time with family and friends. Archie recently won the ANZAC medal at football, appointed by the opposing team. While Archie continues to face challenges including chronic pain, hearing regression, short stature and increasing self-esteem struggles related to bullying, he is incredibly fortunate to have the unwavering support of his beautiful friends including Isaac and Tommie, who continue to be wonderful advocates and companions for him. Archie’s family is continuing to work closely with his school and psychology supports to help strengthen his confidence and emotional wellbeing.
Looking ahead, Archie has also begun the exciting early planning stages for his Make-A-Wish dream, which the family hopes to explore further in 2027.
We remain so incredibly grateful to every person who continues to support Archie through Making Memories for Archie. Your generosity helps ensure Archie can continue accessing opportunities, therapies, supports and experiences that bring joy, connection and quality of life to his world — and for that, we cannot thank you enough.
